Here in this portion of mid-Michigan, many Democratic old timers don't seem to be getting it: the Republicans have been eating their lunch for a long time and the Democratic folks are actually asking them if they'd like seconds, or perhaps a nice, cool beverage with which to wash it all down.

There are times when this folly borders on out right corruption, when it is beyond believable stupidity.

"We've always done it this way," they say, when you call them on their actions, batting their eyes, raising their eyebrows, incredulous that anyone would question them.

You mean you've always attended Republican fundraisers and given them money?? *

On God's not-so-green earth, what the f*ck kind of Democratic Party activity is that?

Exactly how the f*ck do you win Democratic seats doing that kind of bullsh*t??

Or are you hedging your bets, buying favor with the guys and gals on the other side of the aisle when your ass is handed to you in November?

And then these same old timers will whine and carp about how Republicans are killing off their jobs and communities by voting for legislation that favors the rich or the hard-core fundamentalist right-wing faction.

This blog is going to cut through all that crap. There are no holds barred here. I'm so done with being nice, making nice, playing nice, and I'm not going to take any prisoners.

If you're a Republican, you owe me and this country and our children to the end of your days and beyond for all the misery and heartache you've caused us for the last five years -- at a minimum. Believe me, the estate tax you so nastily call a "death tax" will not be enough to pay your debt to America. You should be thinking right now about how to make it up to your country, but I'll bet your scruples don't allow that...

If you're an Independent, hiding behind the facade, "I'd like to keep an open mind", and you've ever voted for George W. Bush, you are equally guilty. And equally moronic compared to your Republican counterparts since you left your mind wide open and then failed to use the damned thing.

If you're a voter who identifies themselves as a Democrat and then votes for Republicans because of a single issue, f*ck you and the horse you road in on, you're guilty for the tanking of this democracy that you perceived as less important than your single pet issue. Don't come whining to me when you get your layoff notice or termination papers from your Republican-owned employer.

If you're a Democratic Party member who's donated to a Republican candidate, who in turn won and voted against your Democratic values, you are complicit as well. What the f*cking hell were you thinking?

Or is that the very key here?

Are any of you guilty and complicit people that support the current "Culture of Corruption" capable of rational thought?

Oh, I already know what you're thinking. Your blood pressure shot up several paragraphs ago and you're hot under the collar and you're furious at being called out like this, pissed off than anyone would take this tone with you. But the truth hurts. Believe me, it's hurt all of us like the shiv you stuck under our ribs every election for years and decades.

Don't like this blunt and negative tone? Give me a reason to change it. Cripes, I've been waiting for five years for a sign of hope, and so far not a glimmer from you.

How about now, when democracy in this state and this nation are on the line?

Make the right choice; at the very least, THINK about it, instead of doing what you've always done so automatically, so mindlessly.

* Uh, yeah, we all of us KNOW about it. The Michigan Secretary of State's office reports campaign donations as part of public record. It might actually be worth learning to do more with the internet than surf for "pr0n" once in awhile.
